I'll miss you, Joe Dressner

As I am sitting here in teary-eyed sadness regarding the loss of my friend and wine importer Joe Dressner, words are not really doing it. Having worked at CSW twice, traveled to France with him, and drank more of his wines than I will ever remember, I can say Joe Dressner had one of the most positive impacts on my life of anybody in the world of wine or in the world, period . He was uncompromising, brilliant, one of the funniest people I will ever know, kind, sweet and took no prisoners. I can't really write any more so here are some pics from my visit to France with Joe, from February 2008.

Here is what I wrote on his FB profile page wall. Was trying to find the perfect words and I found them.

Joe, I will always remember our last time hanging out at your apartment this past June, drinking tea, bullshitting about the royal wedding, mystery novels, Treme, The Wire, playing with Zaggy and so many other things. Now I know it was a goodbye and I could not have dreamt of a better goodbye. You were so much more than the greatest wine importer. You were my friend. I will miss you.
